In 2020 we were planning our vacation for the year, we were settle on Machu Picchu, Peru and Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia. But, with the Covid issue still going on, making international travel was a bit complicated. We decided to stay within the USA and settled on the west coast. Our initial plans were to start north in San Francisco and Napa Valley. From there head south to LA but stopping in Yosemite National Park before. In the end we did the opposite; started in LA, then drove up north to San Francisco. Why the change? Rental car drop off fees, you see, renting the car in San Francisco and dropping it off in a LA carried a 620 dollar fee. By doing the reverse, there was not a drop off fee.
We stayed in Santa Monica.
First order of business was the Santa Monica Pier. Busy and beautiful. Here you find every entertainment you can think of: street performers, music, acrobats, people walking, restaurants, surfers and beautiful view of the surrounding mountains and beaches.
After the Santa Monica Pier we headed to The Hollywood Walk of Fame and then to dinner at an Argentinian Restaurant in Hollywood. Hollywood boulevard is full of characters; street performers (again), the smell of weed is all over the place and of course, the homeless abound.
The following morning we got up early and went to the famous Venice Beach. Famous for the bodybuilders, Boardwalk, Skate Park, Volley Ball and much more activities.
